Dekton is an innovative, ultra-compact surface material produced by the Spanish company Cosentino. Known for its durability and versatility, Dekton is a popular choice for both indoor and outdoor applications, including countertops, flooring, wall cladding, and façades.

Dekton stands out as a premium surface material due to its superior durability, resistance to stains and heat, and versatility in design. Whether used in residential or commercial settings, indoors or outdoors, Dekton provides a long-lasting, low-maintenance solution that combines aesthetic appeal with exceptional performance.

Composition
Dekton is created through a sophisticated process called Particle Sintering Technology, which is an advanced version of the technology used to make porcelain tiles. This process involves the use of raw materials commonly found in glass, porcelain, and quartz surfaces. The materials are subjected to extreme heat and pressure, simulating the natural metamorphic changes that occur in natural stone over thousands of years but condensing them into just a few hours.

The key ingredients in Dekton are a mix of inorganic raw materials including quartz, porcelain, and glass. These materials are combined and then subjected to a high-tech sintering process that involves heating them to temperatures up to 1200°C (2192°F) and applying a pressure of around 25,000 tons. This results in a material with a highly dense, non-porous surface that exhibits the best properties of the constituent materials.

Advantages

Durability:
One of the most significant advantages of Dekton is its extreme durability. The material is resistant to scratches, abrasions, and impact, making it an excellent choice for high-traffic areas and heavy-use surfaces like kitchen countertops. Unlike natural stones like marble and granite, Dekton is less likely to chip or crack under stress.

Stain Resistance:
Thanks to its non-porous nature, Dekton is highly resistant to stains from common household substances like coffee, wine, and oil. The material does not require sealing, which is often necessary with natural stones to prevent staining.

Heat Resistance:
Dekton can withstand high temperatures without burning, scorching, or cracking. Hot pots and pans can be placed directly on the surface without causing damage, which is a considerable advantage in kitchens.

UV Resistance:
Dekton’s resistance to ultraviolet (UV) rays makes it suitable for outdoor applications. The material won’t fade or degrade when exposed to sunlight over time, ensuring that outdoor countertops, cladding, and façades maintain their color and appearance.

Versatility:
Dekton is available in a wide range of colors and finishes, from natural stone aesthetics to industrial-inspired designs. Its versatility makes it suitable for a variety of design styles and applications, offering architects and designers significant creative freedom.
